“The longest table gave me a renewed dopamine hit of NYC, and it was lovely meeting neighbors I see, but I’ve never met. It was perfect – an eclectic mix of young and old, gay and straight, public and private…and everything in between.”
- David

  • Something magical happens when we sit together to share a meal—strangers become friends + neighbors become family.

  • Host a community lunch at one long table. You'll bring the tables & chairs. Your community shows up with friends & food.

“It started with a simple idea - to gather neighbors and share a meal around a table down the middle of an NYC block. After two years of the pandemic, it was time to get together and enjoy time with neighbors.”

“In Short, The Longest Table Was a Feast of Much-Needed Neighborhood Fun. ‘I have never seen New Yorkers so happy. You could feel it in the air.’”

“500 New York City neighbors came together to share a meal at 'the longest table' on a busy street…to help the city we love recover and rebuild, and to energize and inspire others to act by creating moments of joy.”

PAST EVENTS

  • Chelsea, New York City

Neighbors in Chelsea came together and transformed their street on West 21st on October 1, 2023 for the 2nd Annual Longest Table. Over 700 New Yorkers pulled up a chair to share a meal from one end of the block to the other. The purpose was to connect, build community, eat and have fun. The result was the biggest, most joyful neighborhood potluck Chelsea has ever seen.

  • Paris, France

A 340-meter-long table and 1,000 guests gathered together in Paris for the 2nd annual "Table d'Aude." This communal gathering was organized by Germaine and René, who previously brought together the entire 14th arrondissement last June with 700 Parisians. We love seeing the movement of the Longest Table happening across the globe.

  • Cloverdale, California

If it can happen in New York, it can happen anywhere! A Cloverdale resident loved what she saw in NYC and wanted to bring the same spirit of community to her nerighborhood. Supported by the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce and the Cloverdale Citrus Fair, The Longest Table popped up on the West Coast with hundreds of attendees taking a seat at The Longest Table.

  • Chelsea, New York City

Over 500 New Yorkers gathered on a crisp fall day at a table that stretched the length of West 21 Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. Neighbors and friends of all ages came from around the city to participate. Local firemen, police and council representatives joined too. Some neighbors brought homemade food while others brought takeout from local restaurants.
